Technology

Malvern College Pre-School Hong Kong believes in the use of educational technology to support teaching and learning.

Beebots are programmable, colourful toys introduced to children at an early age – they are great fun but also lay the foundation of coding, control and directional language. Science – or “Understanding the World” in EYFS terms – is another prominent fixture in the MCPS curriculum, which allows for play-based, multi-sensory learning.

Snap Circuits/ Early Coding

We prepare pupils for the world of tomorrow with a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) subjects. We introduce ‘Snap Circuits’, enabling children to explore both simple and complex electronic circuits. Through this hands-on approach, young learners gain experience with rudimentary tasks, such as making a propeller fly or operating a light switch, while also delving into more advanced challenges like playing music or creating a spy circuit with a sensor alarm.

This hands-on approach, coupled with early coding exposure, nurtures curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills, equipping our young learners with invaluable 21st-century competencies for their future success in an increasingly digital world.

When used wisely, technology and media can support learning and relationships. Enjoyable and engaging shared experiences that optimize the potential for children’s learning and development can support children’s relationships both with adults and their peers.
